Katie (Magician) Macyshyn

BIO

Katie (Magician) Macyshyn is an artiste and creative play practitioner whose new media art examines how disposability culture shapes mental health and self-worth, and what it might mean to reclaim, transform, and cherish what's been discarded. Inspired by the awkward, more-is-more energy of adolescent performative play, their collaborative work invites performer and audience to build one-of-a-kind multimedia rituals in pursuit of connection and deeper self-acceptance. Macyshyn holds a BFA, with a focus on performance art, from the Corcoran School of the Arts & Design at George Washington University, and has shown work at Arlington Arts Center, The Corcoran Gallery of Art, VisArts, and Transformer, among other festivals and DIY venues.
